The following safety precautions will increase the useful life of the notebook PC. Follow all precautions and instructions. Except as described in this manual, refer to qualified personnel. Disconnect the AC power and remove the battery (s) before cleaning. Clean the portable PC with a clean cellulose sponge or chamois cloth dampened with a non-abrasive detergent solution and a few drops of warm water and remove the extra moisture with a dry cloth. Do not place on uneven or unstable work surfaces. Seek service if the housing has been damaged. Do not expose to dirty or dusty environments. Do not operate during a gas leak. Do not expose to strong magnetic or electrical fields. Do not expose or use near liquids, rain or moisture. Do not use your modem during lightning storms. Do not press or touch the display panel. Do not put together with small objects that may scratch or entering the notebook PC.

Excessive sound pressure from headphones or earphones can cause hearing loss or damage. The adjustment of the control volume, as well as the equalizer to other settings that are not the central position, can increase the output voltage of the headphones or earphones and the sound pressure level. Note that the DC fan is a moving part that can cause the hazard. Be sure to keep your body from moving fan blades. To prepare the laptop for transport, you must turn off and disconnect all external peripherals to avoid damage to the connectors. The hard drive head retracts when it shuts off the power to avoid scratching the surface of the hard disk during transport. Therefore, you must not carry the notebook PC while the power is on. Close the display panel and check that it is properly locked in the closed position to protect the keyboard and the display panel.

Buy a carry bag to protect your laptop PC from dirt, water, bumps and scratches. If you have the intention of using the battery, be sure to fully charge the battery and optional battery before travelling long distances. Remember that the power adapter charges the battery while it is connected to the computer and a source of AC power. Please note that it takes much more to charge the battery when the laptop is in use.
